The Pointer Sisters were a popular American R&B singing group known for their impeccable style and award winning chart-topping hits: Jump (For My Love), He's So Shy, Neutron Dance, I'm So Excited, Slow Hand; just to name a few. Anita, Ruth, June and Bonnie Pointer were inspired by the fashions of the 1940s. Originally, the girls stocked their closets with floral dresses, wide-brimmed hats, feathered boas, knotted pearls and platform shoes from thrift stores as an answer to the question of how to stylishly dress the singing group on a budget. This look was later retooled in the early 1980s to a more updated modern feel.

For this parade, get excited over 1970s/80s fashions inspired by the 1940s, as well as pieces originating in the WWII era: Novelty prints, jackets and blazers, floral dresses, fancy hats, platform shoes, strappy sandals, hot pants, anything that sparkles, slinky disco dresses, tube tops, spandex, large shouldered silhouettes, jumpsuits, metallics, sequins, dangling necklaces and gloves.

I love their style! They were very influential to me as a young fashionista.

It's a bit of a tribute to the longevity of the popularity of 1940s fashion that I can't keep many printed rayon dresses around long in my shop, but I do have a couple great hats for women not afraid to wear a sensational chapeau!

It's not printed, but this is a stylish rayon dress from the 1940s:
