Hi all, I found this cape in a thrift store in Paris and would like to see if I can get some more information.

The cape is 95cm/37in long, with a velvet brown collar and it has a hood that you can remove as it is attached with buttons. The color of the cape is very difficult to define, it looks like a dark green/brown. It has a press stud at the neck and 2 buttons, that cannot be seen from the outside. I think the shoulders have an interesting design that I had never seen in capes until now (fact: I'm not a specialist of capes, I just did like this one)

I have never seen this label before and there is no other label. Does someone know it? I have tried to google it but without any success. I think the fabric is wool (at least mainly wool) but I do not have any idea concerning the lining fabric. Do you have any idea of the era? I really cannot situate it and I'd just like to know.

Please, let me know if more pictures are needed or more details.

Thank you in advance for your help!

    Hi, what a lovely cape!

Can you tell if it has shoulder padding or wadding or any stiffening? Are there any visible seams? The lining could be acetate but I do notice a sheen which is a bit like taffeta.

Taffeta is a weave usually with very fine horizontal ribs and could be made of different fibers like silk, acetate or rayon so one and the other are not exclusive. I can’t quite tell from the photo but the lining could very well be acetate taffeta.

I will try to look for the label when I have a few minutes.

Thank you so much for these information!

There is no shoulder padding and it looks there has never been one, and no wadding or stiffening. It's just the shoulders and..the lining and nothing in-between. I attach some more pictures, hope it helps.

As for the lining, I don't think it silk, but for the rest. I am really unsure. i think it could be acetate.
