A Mad Carpentier label has been on my "want list" for the label resource for a very long time, so I was astonished to find this a few weeks back:

Mad Maltezos and Susie Carpentier had worked at Vionnet, and when she started talking about retirement in 1939, they opened their own house. They stayed open during the war, and were very popular in the 1940s. They closed in 1957.

My dress is from around 1947 and is in terrible condition. I had just been to a restoration workshop and was feeling like Superwoman when I bought it. When I spotted it, I knew I had seen a Puritan adaptation label here, and sure enough, Jody posted one from Fabiani a few weeks ago.

Anyway, keep your eyes peeled for the "real" label.
