Is there a name for this kind of fabric/construction?

I picked up this cool vintage cocktail dress where the fabric appears to be made from alternating strips of lace and ruched ribbon. Is there a particular term for this? I tried searching for similar pieces but haven't found much. I think the era is 1960s but curious if others agree!

I usually refer to that as ruching. So maybe call it a ruched bodice with lace inserts or similar.

It's hard to tell the length, but I believe I'm seeing 60s as you say. I don't think there is a specific name for the fabric. I assume it is sewn in strips: ruching and lace alternating? If so I'd say what Barbara said: ruched fabric panels alternating with lace.

    Pretty dress!
