Is this a typical Victor Costa?

I haven't been able to find a dress similar to this style in my research and I have used up most of the morning....Thought I would ask the members here if they had any thoughts on this Victor Costa dress and matching shawl. It features a complete overlay of lace on the peachy fabric...

    And here is the label:

Any help on a date would be appreciated, too. Thanks so very much.....Gail

Actually, I think that is a bit subdued compared to the other Costas I have seen. It is feminine, and it is patterned as Costa often is. And it looks to have the nice finishing his garments always have. Are those picot loops at the neckline? Costa often does very bold colors and patterns. As to a date - that peach was big in the 80s, but the style is pretty classic, so I will defer to those who know the more recent styles better than I.

That's really an atypical Costa - so restrained, in all ways!

I don't think that's a very recent label of his... I'd look into it but I've got to catch a plane :)

Regardless, I think it's perfect for this season - Pretty with a capital 'P' ~

Thanks, Hollis and Carolyn. The newer labels are block letters and not the signature....at least from what I have seen. The label resource only has the sig from the Romantica line....

I am getting ready to list it this afternoon.....if Sparedollar will get over it's glitch again this morning.....grrrrr. Any ideas on a starting bid? I am thinking of starting it at either $19.99 or $24.99....not sure yet.

Yes, those are picot loops along the neckline. They are also along the arm and waistband...very cute.

    Thanks for your help.....Gail

I think it may be 80's...The reason I say that is because the Romantica label was used in his early collection - 1974 (thanks, Jonathan!)

And I *think* some designers were trying to get away from the harshness of 80's style with the romantic look in the 80's to early 90's.

BUT - I am No Expert - this is merely the feeling I get about your very pretty dress.

Maybe Jonathan will come along & set us all straight. ;)
