Eugene Joseph was a jeweler to the stars during the golden age of Hollywood. His dazzling costume jewelry was worn by Vivien Leigh in "Gone with the Wind" Marilyn Monroe in "Gentlemen Prefer Blonds," Marlene Dietrich in "Shangai Expres" etc. According to “Antiques Roadshow” appraiser Rosalie Sayyah, in the ’30s and ’40s, Joseff was supplying over 90 percent of the jewelry in the movies. He was also the first Hollywood jeweler to come up with the concept of renting out jewelry rather than selling it outright. And now "property from Joseff of Hollywood Treasures from the vault" will go on the auction block Nov. 16 and 17.

Collectorsweekly.com has an excellent article about the history of this jeweler and his warehouse HERE .

There's also an excellent episode of Smithsonian's LA Frock Stars about a visit to the studio.
