Okay, now I'm wondering if I've mislabeled these shoes "vintage" as well...what think ye? They look to me they may have had some sort of embellishments that were removed (as well as the heel taps).

Well, I found one pair in Houston and the other in Dallas, so probably not. :) Thanks again for your help...next time I'll check with you sooner! So glad I found this forum.

I think these are earlier - early 90s perhaps? the heel is more graceful, mules were hugely popular then, and that heavy guipure lace is common on cocktail/wedding/prom dresses from the early-mid 90s. The heel 'taps' are called top lifts, and they are fairly expensive to get replace - the last time I had a pair redone it was $20.00!

The voice of authority. You know, my friend had a pair like these in her closet, and I guess I thought they were more contemporary than they really are. It's hard to keep the line between the past and the present, as Little Edie would say.

Edith 'Little Edie' Bouvier Beale: It's very difficult to keep the line between the past and the present. You know what I mean? It's awfully difficult.

Funny you should ask about those shoes because I have a pair of Stuart Weitzman that are extremely similar. Your shoes are in much better shape, hence the sole of the shoes pictures - but they say the same thing "leather sole, stuart weitzman, made in spain" so maybe together we can figure this out. I think the style of mine is 90's for sure...

also, although it does not look like it in the pictures, it looks like the heels have been recently replaced. The bottom of the shoe shows they clearly were worn a lot, but the heel looks like they were only used a couple of times - so definitely replaced
