LOL, nevermind the runs in the my stockings (they are old re-enacting stockings) but look at my boots! I originally bought them to resell, that is until my foot fit into them with ease. I'm a UK 8 (US 10) and I never expected these to fit me, I've always wanted a pair of antique strappy boots too and in RED too.

They measure 11" long and just under 3" wide but as Jonathan has mentioned in the past, shoes splayed over the soles so whoever had these originally had the same width foot as me (mine are about 4" wide). Isn't it great when shoes are broken in for you?
What's neat about them too is that the soles are straights so you could wear the boots on either foot. I wasn't sure what feet to put each boot on so I just looked at the wear patterns of the toes on the soles.
I'm thinking they are about 1900- 1906? I've seen 1911 and 1912 examples but they have had right and left feet and higher cuban heels. It's the fact that they are straights that is throwing me but they don't look as old as the 1880's strappy boots that I have seen.

WOW those are just great!!! I never thought about that one can't use the typical ball of the foot measurement like in modern shoes, and i don't think i have EVER seen boots of that area in that color. many many in black, but not red!

    Well, you have stumped me!
I have no idea when these are from. Shoes with straight soles are really not made at all after the mid 1880s. I think the latest I have ever seen a pair are 1885-1888ish. Ah... I know what it is. YOu have a pair of theatrical boots, made for the stage. That explains why the heels are low too. I think you have a pair of boots, c. late 1880s made for an actress, either a dance hall girl, or a shakespearan actress playing the role of ancient characters, so the boots are trying to look somewhat Roman. They aren't Edwardian, the construction is wrong, although the toe is a bit more pointed than I would like to see for anything before 1890, but its possible, I have seen tapered toes like that in the late 1880s. The red colour is a bit of give away as well, they are definately meant for the stage.

WAY COOL! My boots in a previous life perhaps?
I did train as an opera singer in college and uni and always fancied that if I lived back then, I would have become a stage hall girl! Red suits my personality too so these boots have finally come home.
