Origin and history of criss-cross ties

    Hi, everyone! I'd love to find out anything you all might know or be able to dig up on the origins and history of criss-cross ties (like the ones worn by Catholic schoolgirls). I've looked online but haven't found much information. Thanks so much in advance!

    I think of those as continental ties—There may be other names. I don't know why they are worn by Catholic schoolgirls though.

    this is from a trade member who answered a similar query on our private side years ago:

    we also used to refer to them as "usher ties" back in the 80s.
