This is a place to SUBMIT LABELS ONLY - Not a place to discuss or ask questions about a label. If you would like to ask questions about a label PLEASE post in the forum located HERE.

The Vintage Fashion Guild is constantly updating the Label Resource, and we welcome contributions. If you have labels to contribute, we ask that you keep in mind a few guidelines.

First, please check the Label Resource to ensure that your label is not already included.

If your label is NOT shown there, and you feel it should be, then post an image of the label onto this thread, together with the following:

    (1) date of garment
    (2) type of garment
    (3) photo of garment
    (4) any research you have done on the designer/label and a link to where you found that information.
    (5) how you would like to be credited for your contribution (i.e. your name, your VFG username, or your vintage fashion business name)

Please submit a clear, straight, close-up shot of the label that is 500 pixels or larger.

    Here is an example:

    loper.jpg

Also, because of the change of the label sizes when the website changed format, some of the old labels are grainy and hard to read. If you have a better image of one of these labels, we would welcome your replacement image.

Under copyright law, the owner of a photograph has exclusive rights to that photograph. Please, only submit images that are your own, or that you have obtained express permission to share. By posting your label image here, you are giving your copyright assignment for the image to go onto the Label Resource. You will be credited for your contribution.

We are always looking for new information about any of the labels in the resource. Please post here if you have additional research you wish to contribute.

Concerning Use of the Label Resource:

Welcome to the Vintage Fashion Guild’s Label Resource. Here you’ll find a large collection of vintage label images, complete with biographies and company histories for each label.

We are working hard to make sure this Resource is as comprehensive as possible. It is a work in progress; its growth depends upon contributions of labels, and any omissions are due to the fact that examples of many designers’ work are scarce. We welcome contributions of labels that are not represented on the Resource.

This Resource is to be used only as an educational tool, and is not intended as a value guide. Inclusion of a label in the resource is not an indication of value, as garments vary greatly in value depending on many factors. Another point that needs to be considered by users is that some companies used the same label for many years, and just because the garment used on the label resource is a certain date, it does not mean that all garments with the same label are the same date.

The labels included have been carefully researched, we have worked hard to insure that all information is correct. If a mistake should be found, we would greatly appreciate access to your information so the Resource can be corrected.

We hope you find the Vintage Fashion Guild’s Label Resource useful. We provide the Resource at no cost to the vintage community, and we are pleased when people are able to use it. We do ask that if you use the resource or copy parts of it on another site (such as eBay, blogs, articles, etc.) that you credit the VFG in the following way: “Information courtesy of The Vintage Fashion Guild Label Resource” or “Information courtesy of {Contributor's Name}/the Vintage Fashion Guild Label Resource”.

Please note that the author of the bio owns the copyright to the work, and that the copyright is assigned to the VFG. In order to be in compliance with eBay’s copyright policy, and the law, you must credit all copyrighted work.

    Thank you!

1951-52 Hank & Audrey's Corral - a very short-lived shop owned by Hank Williams and his first wife, Audrey, in Nashville, Tennessee. They intended to sell Nudie suits and rival the shop two doors down, owned by Hank's friend and mentor, Earnest Tubb. The Corral opened June 16, 1951, and closed in either '52 (their divorce) or '53 (Hank's death). Hard to find much info, but there are some old photos of the exterior of the shop, some from the opening week's parties and radio shows recorded there. Found some info in Earnest Tubb's biography, too. I emailed the Hank Williams museum in Montgomery, Alabama and confirmed this was indeed the same label they have on display! The curator was going to ask Lycretia Williams to confirm (Hank's step daughter, Audrey's daughter), but she is 81, and I didn't hear back. My concern was that this label is glued into the vest, and there are glue marks from where the label is missing from the skirt. My research, and the museum, seem to think this does NOT invalidate the piece, as the shop was not, in fact, selling Nudies, but rather selling tourist-type cheapies! And, much like the kid's Western wear for Roy Rogers, et al, mostly cheaply made (still better than today's standards of "cheaply made"). The set consists of a dark denim A-line skirt and cropped vest, with white leather trim and fringe. Please let me know if more/better pictures are needed, or if you'd like me to forward the museum email exchange, or Google books quotes. If this is useful for the VFG label source, more on the rare and novelty side of things, for sure, please credit my shop, dollsntrolls/VFG member.
    This is really great, Sadie!
We will certainly add the label to our Novelty Labels pages.
Please feel free to write an entry for the LR or forward me the additional research in a PM @Ranch Queen Vintage.
    Thanks!

    1990s-2000s(?) Stacy Adams necktie

Stacy Adams started out as a shoe company that was founded in 1875 by William H. Stacy and Henry L. Adams in Brockton, Massachusetts. Stacy Adams, currently owned by the Weyco Group, is still selling menswear including skivvies, casual wear, suits and even jewelry in multiple physical locations as well as online.

The Stacy Adams shoes have been mentioned in the lyrics of four pop songs between 1976 and 1999.

    Hold for accurate date.

Just listed a 1960s Leo Narducci dress suit and noticed there is no label in the resource. I got this info from Lasell University.
Leo Narducci was born and raised in Brockton, Massachusetts, He grew up in the family garment business. After serving in the military, he graduated from Rhode Island School of Design in 1960 and went on to have a very successful design career in New York City, earning the prestigious Coty Award for young designers in 1965. His designs have been featured in Women's Wear Daily, Glamour, Mademoiselle, Vogue and Harper's Bazaar. His clients had celebrity status and his muse was model Ellen Harth. He was known for his bold fabrications and timeless silhouettes.

Also, here's a link to an article about him from Rhode Island Art Archive http://riaaproject.blogspot.com/2013/09/in-studio-leo-narducci.html
