Question about a vintage Dior dress

    Hi there,
I have a couple of questions about a vintage dress
I bought about 20 years ago. I bought the dress
from an antique shop in Santa Barbara, Ca. When I bought it, it only had a note on it saying
something about the dress being worn by an actress for some awards show, and that the material of the dress has some kind of silver/gold
threading? I wish I would have kept the note, but I didn’t. So my question, does anyone know how old the dress is? When it might have been made?
    And who wore it?
    Thank you,
    Amber

I think this is mid 1990s. The fabric is chromespun.

Thank you for the info. Do you know how to read the tags (the Dior tag inside the dress) it has some numbers on it?
    Thanks again

It's boutique, but its a registered design. Dior has a registry of all the numbers, so theoretically you could ask them what date the dress is. What is the number? We have a couple of numbered boutique items and might be able to figure out an approximate date by the number, if they use numbers in sequence.

The dress looks 90s to me too, from a distance, but I wonder if its older and was shortened. Does the hem look like it has been chopped, or hopefully just turned under? There were a lot of people buying old designer clothing and chopping them in the late 90s and early 2000s - fortunately that is rare now as people realize the value is in authenticity.

    Hi Jonathan,
Thank you for your information. I am looking at the
tag and on the tag the letters/ numbers are
IOI 402 is what it looks like. And the hem on the bottom of the dress is not taped up, it looks like the
original hem. Any help with this would be appreciated!
    Thanks,
    Amber
