I picked this up and for my own curiosity wondered if it is late 50s or early 60s (or neither)? The fabric is quite heavy. Thanks

 

I think you would be safe saying early 60s. R&K has been around forever....
It's good to check the hem. Is it original? Was it shortened?

 

How can I tell if the hem is original or has been shortened?

 

Hand stitches are not as even as machine stitches. Or, put in a photo of the inside of the hem.

 

Here is a photo of the hem .. and while I was taking the photos I noticed a union label! So it's somewhere between '55 and '63!
