If someone ordered a catalog dress from Aldens or Sears, who made that dress? I've got a department store find that has a label but it's clearly handmade. Just a general question, doesn't have to relate to my item. Next: if someone handmade something in the 50s thru 70s, before the requirements to have care instructions, did seamstresses use their own care instruction labels? Ex. Ive got handmade items where the only label looks like a fortune from fortune cookie that simply reads machine wash only, etc.
