Sneak Peak at Vintage Rhinestone Buttons on Cards

Discussion in 'PUBLIC VFG Fashion Parades' started by retroragswi_com, Apr 17, 2004.

  1. I'm going to be offering several lots of vintage rhinestone buttons later this weekend.

They are all new old stock with their cards and unused.

These are great for using to repair vintage dresses, sweaters, blouses, etc. and are a fun way to add pizazz to contemporary clothing as well.

Those are all rather nice - do you generally get buttons or were they just a one off find?

I have a thing for buttons! Love these - particularly the
    multi-rhinestone ones.

My prob is that I buy old button jars and boxes at estate
auctions, planning on maybe putting some up on ebay, and then have trouble parting with any of them (you know the old
'but I may need this type of button some day' syndrome)

    Great RS buttons!
I too have those I can't seem to part with Sue.
My RS ones among them....you just never know when you might need one
and they don't take up alot of room;)
Oh yeah that's a good reason Karen.

  5. I have a "thing" for vintage sewing notions and buttons. I actually first got interested in vintage clothing through my interest in vintage sewing patterns and notions. I've got my own stash that I keep around and tend to look for more whenever I'm out and about.

This bunch was an unusual find because the previous owner was a seamstress. She had thousands of new old stock buttons on hand; I've never seen so many outside of a fabric shop before. I'm still trying to decide if I should buy more or restrain myself. ;)

    Oh..... I Want!!! ;)

They are all scrumptious. I can't find any snazzy ones around here - everyone is sooo conservative. And I think the thrift stores have "regulars" they save this type of thing for.

Seriously, I do need two RS buttons for this fabulous dressing gown we got at an estate. The ones I have are too large. Just as well, I really wanted to save them for something of my own.

I think your very 1st ones would work for it. Maybe...

Mine are 1.5" & I think we really need them to be a bit over an inch. I can always tighten up the buttonhole... ;)

Please let me know how much you need for the 1st lot. Or else, when you list them, Kari.

    TIA!

BUY MORE! BUY MORE! BUY MORE!

    Why, yes, I was yelling.

  9. They're scheduled to launch on eBay tonight.

My cost was a bit higher than I first thought was realistic for resale (and it still might be) but I priced them out at my local fabric store and new prong set rhinestone buttons are retailing for $12.00 per button.

If they don't sell, then I get to add more shinies to my collection. :)
