Good morning/afternoon/night, I went to this thrift shop today called “Flea Market” to look through their inventory and see if I could come across something interesting. I found these shoes, and though I didn't buy them, I did take some pictures. When do you think it's from?
I think they are late 90s. Whilst the square, chunky shape is reminiscent of the late 60s, the way they're made and the plastic heel to me point to more recent fashion. Plus, they're just a little too chunky for the 60s I think... I had a pair of Mary-Janes at the time with the same kind of heel and that very square toe. Oh how I loved them!
I'm torn because it does look 90s, but it also looks c. 1970-71ish. The script on the label looks more 1970, and the tailored styling doesn't strike me as having that gothy-90s look, plus black and brown as a colour combo also strikes me as more c. 1970.
Its the heel that says 90s to me. I dont recall this type of blocky chunky thick heel in the 70s. Weren't the heels more streamlined? Like these?
I’m seeing 70s too @Jonathan. I sold these early 70s a while back and they also have a chunky “flared” heel.
Okay, changed my mind again! lol Actually looking at them again, the leather tied into a bow is definitely a 70s thing - I haven't seen one 90s shoe with a thin leather bow.
