I can see that the collar on this is real fur but the very short dark area looks far too uniform to be real but then again it feels like real fur.
Sorry, I suck at fur ID. I usually only ever find badly damaged ones that I make into sleeping bags for animal shelters but this one is intact and now I've got several like this. Tips for what to look for or how to describe it to properly ID it? The inside looks like suede but the entire back in one huge piece. The longer coat I have that feels the same is made from tiny sewn together strips. Neither have matting at the neck like I would expect from synthetic fur.
The closest I could find in the fur resource is beaver or seal?
No label inside. Also, the collar looks like it was originally part of the coat, not sewn on later.
Also, what style is this coat? It's not flared enough to be A-line but there must be a common name besides just 'short coat'? I'll post the longer one made of sewn strips after I know what parts I should photograph for ID help.
Thanks as always!
