    This week at the Vintage Fashion Guild
    ===========================

    The Vintage Fashion Guild provides valuable educational resources available to all! Not only do we provide educational articles, but we provide a public chat board where vintage topics can be discussed in real time. Have a dress you need help dating? Do you have a weakness for vintage hats or shoes and want to commisserate with others that have been "bitten by the vintage bug"? Do you see all those vintage inspired looks on the runway and want to learn how you can recreate it using the "real thing"? Or do you love the glamour of the classic film stars and want to learn more about "what they wore"?

    Then this is the place for you!

    We have many educational discussion and happenings this week!

    We have recently concluded a public workshop on vintage shoes. Do not despair, the transcript lies here:

    If there is anyone that you know that is curious about vintage, it is easy to copy and paste that note to them. I know there are people who use this site for information about collectible labels and antique clothing, which is valuable but might not be everyone's cup of tea.

    I know I can read 50 books but if i have no reference point, any given little factoid might not "stick". There are people who learn by "route", or have a photographic memory for everything they read, but there are also a lot of people (and everyone is a little bit that way) that they learn better by "doing" "participating" and experiencing. If they read a book on the Sears Tower, they would never remember how many floors pers second the elevator went, but if they went there and rode it, they would remember forever and ever.

    I figure, that with a knowledgeable yet unpretentious group like this, it is much more of an "experience"...or as close to getting without actually owning every one of the items.

    There are a lot of people, my sister is one, who "don't like vintage" but then they experience what it REALLY is all about, they find they really do. They either just didn't realize that that drop dead gorgeous vintage dress was just as vintage as dowdy and torn housecoats that were beaten to death by daily use that they are used to thinking about.

    so you can get your "feet wet" so to speaks or learn something new.
