Amanda @amandainvermont alerted me to the very interesting story of Queen Ranavalona III, an archive of whose fashion, photographs and letters is to be auctioned by VFG member Kerry Taylor as part of Kerry Taylor Auctions' Passion for Fashion, which takes place on December 8, 2020. Kerry gave me permission to share her story of the tragic queen in the VFG blog. This auction looks to be the most exciting Kerry has ever had—the catalogue alone raised my heart rate. It's a who's-who and what's-what assortment that I dare you to pick a favorite from! I certainly can't— And just one of one small part of it is the archive of The Last Queen of Madagascar.
Yes, I saw that too and was going to mention it but got kind of sidetracked with other stuff. She needs a book and a movie!
AND, the last queen of Madagascar was Kerry Taylor's biggest lot today: £43,000. I'm so pleased for the queen and her legacy!
And not just that - it is the state of Madagascar that has acquired this fascinating archive, which seems only right: https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2020/dec/09/madagascar-relics-queen-ranavalona-iii
