    What would you guess the age of the young woman in #3? 16 or 17?

    That is one early sewing machine! And she was proud of it - must have been quite the financial outlay.

    I also especially love the lady with the sewing machine. I am thinking this may be a bit earlier than Civil War era, perhaps 1850s. Really a wonderful image of the time.
