    Hi everyone,

I have found a beautifully constructed sky blue velvet dress that unfortunately has yellow/orange spotting throughout the fabric. I have no experience with velvet fabrics. Is this water marks, mold or rust or something else? Will a dry cleaner have any hope in removing them from the fabric? Do I have other options to clean it? I believe I shouldn't hand wash velvet. Thanks for your help

  2. Can you show the whole garment so we can see the age? And determine if it can be laundered.

It looks like it could be rust spots.

I have seen this happen to items that have been kept in trunks. I have had success with some velvets by hand washing it may change the texture some.
