Vintage Fur Handbag...date and type of fur?...

    Hi..
    Not 100% sure as to the type of fur that is on this handbag....cowhide? horse hair? I'm horrible at guessing fur. I'm also thinking 1960's for a date?

    I think your dating is correct - I gather there are no labels. The fur looks like pony.

    You are right...there are no labels for this handbag. Thanks for helping me out with the info I needed. I never thought of it being pony, but I think you are very right!

    Is the fur stiff and rough? Then I'd agree with pony or cow. If it's soft, it may be kangaroo. I found a bag similar to this recently that I didn't buy due to damage. It was labeled as genuine kangaroo and was made in Australia.
