I’m assuming this is from the 40s. It’s identical to some other 40s lingerie/nightgowns I have. All the seams are tiny and pinked. But...what is it? Is it some kind of pajamas? Maybe it was a nightgown and someone altered it? The waist does look a little sloppy. I’m including a pic of it paired with a bed jacket that happens to match it perfectly.
I take that back about the sloppy waist. Pulled out, it is very straight and neatly sewn just like the rest of it.
I discovered an illustration showing there were pajama skirts. I will have to go back and see if I can find a matching top.
I am wondering if it had not been a nightgown that was cut and made into a full length half slip for some dress the original owner may have needed. Love this sort of lingerie, so feminine!
I wondered that same thing too! Only I think it’s too full to be used as a slip, and too long too, unless the person was very tall. I also love this sort of thing. So feminine and so glamorous. I get all silly happy whenever I find anything like this. lol
