Vintage Tie Knot?

Hello, I'm new to this thread, but there is a question which I have been trying to find for quite some time now. I recently acquired a set of 25 vintage 1970s-1980s ties, some of which (especially the 70s) are the "wide-tie" style of that era, spanning almost 4.5 inches wide. What has confused me is when watching old Johnny Carson shows from the 70s, his ties always seem to be tied in a certain "large knot" manner, which I can never seem to find the knot for. Granted, the wide shirt collars may be of some perspective in this look, but I have found no source which can ascertain this information.

Here are some photos for what I'm speaking about:

    Thank you for your help!

Could it be that it's a full Windsor knot, instead of a half Windsor? That's just a guess, and I'm sure you'll get more feedback shortly.
