    The collar is a single layer with the bias trim to finish the edge.

    Darn! I was thinking Davidow also, but figured you wanted a specific designer/person.

    It is such a classic.
     
  4. I am surprised I am correct. I have a few Davidow suits, and the all the design elements looks the same.

    Davidow was a very old suit manufacturer. They are best known for the Chanel copies and the single layer collar and front plackets which they patented during WWII. David Coffin wrote a nice article about them many years ago for Threads.

    I'm working on estimates etc. from the break-in so I hope some one else with continue this thread. I'll try to post more photos. I have a lot of Davidows--Chanel copies, patented, and others.

    Here is the label and patent # of one suit.
