I sometimes post a "who done it?" design for the Sewfari Divas. Do you want to guess? Sadly I don't own this dress.

The purpose is broaden my friends horizons. Sometimes the designer is not well know and sometimes it's a unusual design for the designer.
    Here is the dress:

This is waayyyyyy beyond my skillset :hysterical: to identify but I thought of Vionnet when I saw it. I think it’s late 30s/ very early 40s

Claire, I already posted my guess in the Facebook group: 1930s, possibly Gallenga or Babani - I'm still thinking of those. And yes, it's gorgeous!

Karin, no, none of those. If no one guesses correctly, I'll tell you tomorrow.

    that is DIVINE.

one of my roommates in the 80s had a gorgeously draped ankle length DKNY dress that she let me borrow to wear to a fashion show; hers did not have a cowl neckline or bell sleeves, but it had deep armholes and that delicious front skirt drape, so maybe Donna Karan???

    Calire,

Is it a British designer? Or if American, Stephen Burrows?

    I agree it is hard.
The dress is probably 30s--maybe early 40s. I have the photos from the exhibition but not the labels.

No way it's McCardell. Just as a complete outlier I will guess Chanel.

Actually, no, the timing for Chanel—impossible. And already guessed.

It can't be Charles James, can it?

    not Chanel, not James.
2 hints: it's a woman; she did the costumes for several movies.
