Hey there lovely VFGers, I'm looking for a classy, smart dress OR two-piece suit that's ready to go from office to cocktails. - spring or summer weight. - any colours. - not *too* formal - so brocades, for instance, are probably out. - 1950s through late '1960s. - my measurements: about 35-36 bust, 26 (cinched) to 28 waist, 35-36 hips. - under $200. Thanks my friends! Jen
I did take a quick peek for you. Vintage 60s Taupe Ensemble I have this but I think it might be too dressy for work and maybe a tad small. Christian Dior Suit I could see this with the jacket open and a very nice camisole for cocktails but it maybe too large.
Not sure exactly what style you have in mind, but here are a few options in the right size range, in several different styles! http://www.vivavintageclothing.com/1960s-pink-butterfly-print-spring-mini-dress-coat-set/ http://www.vivavintageclothing.com/black-cotton-early-1960s-sleeveless-dress-floral-embroidery/ http://www.vivavintageclothing.com/greysharkskinfabric1950sfittedwiggledaydress/ http://www.vivavintageclothing.com/whitepiqueearly1960ssummersuitnos/
This is a great suit... with a quick change of accessories or opening the jacket to a little silky top you can go from work to cocktails! And it would easily work for 3 seasons. https://www.etsy.com/listing/130064442/early-1960s-vintage-cropped-box-jacket?ref=shop_home_active
You're all coming up with some great options! This is the right ballpark, even if some are little bit too dressy, I've been loving them all.
I've got tons of "work to cocktails" dresses, but, unfortunately, very few of them listed now.... I do have these currently listed, though: Not sure if this one is dressy enough, butis dressier than a typical day or sun dress and would be office suitable with a little shrug or jacket and perfect for accessorizing for cocktails: Vintage 50s Yellow Polka-Dot Sun Dress, NOS NWT, Size Small Lightweight suit: Vintage 50s 60s Cardigan Jacket & Pencil Skirt Suit, Unworn, Sz XS, Small (the above pieces will be discounted, as I'm having a "private pre-grand reopening" sale on my site for friends & relatives, including VFG friends; please PM me for details if interested) On Etsy: Vintage 60s Designer Linen Wiggle Dress, Small, OOAK Vintage 50s 60s Designer Linen Skirt Suit, Dress, Sm XS The skirt waists on the suit and two-piece dress may be a hair small, but I think both have room to move over the buttons to gain a bit more room... And the two linen pieces were photographed with my old camera and aren't the best shots; can send better ones of needed.
Just thought of your request when I listed this Jen: https://www.etsy.com/listing/152034024/50s-white-with-aqua-blue-polka-dots-bows It might be worn with a cardigan or cropped jacket for work.
Thanks Mary Jane! Personally I really like Anne's yellow polka dot sundress...it gave me the idea of sharing mine. I hope you find your dream get-up Jen!
Blue and polka dots are a huge weakness of mine - thanks, Maggie! I totally just bought the dress. However, I'm thinking I still might want something more officely/suitlike/JackieKennedy/MichelleObama for this event, so if other options arise dear sellers, do keep letting me know Jen
This may be more Grace Kelly than Jackie or Michelle but I just thought of it: http://www.etsy.com/listing/106831640/vintage-60s-two-tone-shantung-suit-nos-s?
I'm not sure if you're still looking, but I have quite a few nice 1960s dresses that would work lovely as office to cocktails ensembles. I have many that are a size medium. You can browse through them yourself here on my official website: <links removed by admin>
