    hi everyone!

Just wanted to ask a question about these (2) 50s sheer nylon tops... I'm not really sure what else to call the beautiful detail, soutache? embroidered? lace? all of the above? lol. thank you!

soutache is usually used to describe the larger, flat cord that is appliqued onto cloth. I would call this passementerie, which is finer cord applique.

In interior design, passementerie refers to all types of trim that can be applied including soutache, braid, various types of fringe, etc. I think of soutache as wider but when I did a search for soutache images this one came up from "Thread's" magazine so maybe it is.

I think I'd describe it as similar to soutache only thinner.
