Hello there. This is my first post and I am trying to find out more about this item.

I believe it was my grandmother's and I am 58 years old. From what I remember think its silk but not sure.

Been folded away for years in a plastic bag. Does it have any value?

Thank you. Photos to follow hopefully!

  2. Welcome!
Could you tell us the measurements, show a photo of the back and some close-ups, please?
It actually looks a pillow-sized tourist piece in your one photo, which would negate your title word "shawl".
Also, per forum rules we do not value items. But after knowing more, we may be able to help steer you to sources for determining the value yourself. :)

You might want to look at Ebay for vintage taj mahal shawl or piano shawl.

  5. Depending on the size, they were rayon table covers. I have had quite a few since they were souvenir pieces.

Yes, they look like 1930s rayon damask table covers. We don't evaluate on this site, but I can tell you that a few years ago these were really popular in Norway with traditional costume wearers. I don't know why, all I know is that whenever I sold one on eBay, it ALWAYS went to Norway.

I just sold one on Ebay to Norway this month - they can still do well if an unusual colorway.
