Happy Anniversary Singing in the Rain
Happy anniversary to the American musical comedy extravaganza Singin’ in the Rain! The 1952 Stanley Donen film starred Gene Kelly, Donald O’ Connor, Debbie Reynolds, Jean Hagen, a young Rita Moreno—and who could forget scene stealing Cyd Charise in the ‘Broadway Melody’ fantasy ballet.
Set in late 1920s Hollywood, a swashbuckling matinee idol (Don Lockwood) and his shrill diva co-star (Lena Lamont) make the difficult transition from silent films to “talkies”. Unexpectedly, Don meets a young chorus girl (Kathy Selden) and falls head over heels in love while navigating his future career with his best mate and musical partner (Cosmo Brown). Singin’ in the Rain is undoubtedly an unmissable gem from the golden age of MGM Hollywood musicals.
