The Sting

The Sting (1973) is an intricate rollicking caper film set in 1930s Chicago about two depression era grifters; small time crook Johnny Hooker (Robert Redford), and veteran con man Henry Gonderoff (Paul Newman), who team up to avenge the murder of a mutual friend by swindling mobster Doyle Lonnegan (Robert Shaw) out of his fortune.

Reuniting the Butch, Cassidy and the Sundance kid dream team of actors Newman and Redford and Director, George Roy Hill, the film was a smash and won 7 of the 10 Academy Awards it was nominated for, including best picture. Legendary costume designer, Edith Head earned her record-setting eighth and final Oscar for her stellar work on the film.

So why gamble on looking stylish when vintage fashion is a sure bet? Fellas will be the bees knees in snappy pinstripe suits, dapper tuxedos, newsboy caps, fedoras, and bowlers. Dames will be oh, so dishy in flirty rayon day dresses, chic chiffon evening gowns, and for lounging at home silky kimono robes and pyjamas.

can't beat a super wide collared striped jacket...(this has a tiny 38" chest) now available at The Vintage Merchant on Ruby Lane:

According to Trixie Delight "Took me years to get bone structure. And don't think bone structure's not important... a girls gotta have good bone structure." But if you don't you can always make this slinky structure 1930s dress!
