Deborah, your lovely red embroidered vest is very likely to be Romanian or Hungarian, it is incredibly similar to my mother's one from near the old border :)
 
Yes, the red embroidered vest is positively Hungarian (i'm part hungarian and i collect hungarian clothes!)
