My mother was in her 20s in the 40s and it was her favorite era (as it is mine!). She was big on navy blue, plaid, scarves, gloves, hats and generally what I'd call handsome clothing. She wasn't the frilly type. I picked out items from my webstore that I am sure she'd have worn. Here is my Mom ca 1952 - she is in the floral dress on the left.

and my Mom in another floral which I remember well from 1961 it was a white organdy with mauve roses.
