Vintage Inspirations: Cobalt

There was enough cobalt blue on runways to make it a verifiable hit for S/S 2023. Its broad reach can partly be explained by its gender neutrality and its casual-to-formal appropriateness. Plus, who can deny that it is a glorious hue?

But is it new? Hardly. Considered a color of ingenuity and enlightenment, Vincent van Gogh once declared, "Cobalt is a divine color and there is nothing so beautiful for putting atmosphere around things..." This week members of the VFG show decades of vintage fashions in this spectacular shade.
