Help with dating and any information on this clothing label

Oh, and in answer to your search-terms question, I usually start my searches with terms related to the item I am researching, then if I get very few results I will broaden the search. So, for instance, I don't remember exactly how I did this search, but I believe I started with "Virji" and...

Help with dating and any information on this clothing label

Donald L. Wright was Virginia's husband and the information I gathered was from a newspapers.com subscription database. I believe you can also access the newspapers through an Ancestry.com description.

Requesting Assistance With Validating Seller Dating of Mini Dress

I looked at many ads for California Holiday fashions and the first reference I found to their fashions (sportswear initially, I believe) was in 1959. The latest ads were from around 1978. Up until about 1980 I saw ads for closeout-type places selling their dresses.

I can at least try to research the label and its dates if you will post a photo of the label.

Help with dating and any information on this clothing label

Further into the 1986 article about Virginia Wright and Virji it says: "I'm looking to sell my line to those boutiques looking for something new, something different, something fresh. I don't want to mass market several thousands (of ) garments. I'd rather be a designer for the exclusive woman...

Help with dating and any information on this clothing label

Here is a bit from a 1986 article: "Virginia K. Wright isn't a top-name fashion designer--yet. Working quietly from her Camp Hill residence and from her church basement, she has put together an impressive fall/winter collection which will be carried soon...in...boutiques in Lancaster...

Article about my grandmother’s style in her young age from Japan

Wonderful story and photos! I was interested to note that the combination of the light shirt (or whatever it is) under the short crocheted/knitted top and with the long skirt, gives a quick visual effect of an obi and kimono. It seemed to me to be an example of "how Japanese women incorporated...

Alna Tricots Deluxe silk sparkly skirt & jacket made in Italy. 60s..?

I am sorry that I haven't had time to dig deeper for more information for you, but the first reference I found to Alna Tricot Knits/Deluxe was from 1956 and the last one was a 1968 ad for Alna Knits. They may have been available earlier and later than those dates, but that was primarily what I...

    Help to identify bag

I looked for vintage ads for 'Dick and Jane' bags, with similar images from the old primers, but I gave up after a few years' worth (there were over 7,000 hits on my search). I then had an idea that if you can't find that bag you might try making a personalized one that looks like that...for...

Info on hat label: Madame de Jeane Model Hats Paris - New York

Th database I depended upon is a Proquest database (see here), which is apparently only available through libraries, universities, etc. The institution needs to pay for each Proquest package and I guess there was not enough demand for that package from the university I attended. I even offered...

Info on hat label: Madame de Jeane Model Hats Paris - New York

I appreciate your kind sentiment, but believe me, I am much sorrier than you are. I am still working on trying to get them to renew the contract for the database I use, but...

Info on hat label: Madame de Jeane Model Hats Paris - New York

Alas, the research database I depend upon the most is apparently no longer going to be available, so I scrambled to find information for you elsewhere, but it has been sparse. Because the "Madame de Jeunes" 42 South Molton St address is the same as the Madame de Jeane(s) addresses I found, I...

    Savita

Yes, the articles were all from Country life. I looked quickly at search hits in other publications, but they did not have anything to do with 'your' Savita.
