Puzzled about the age of this cardigan

Really I don't have a clue. No sign of a label anywhere. Seams are straight stitched and unfinished. No serging. Feels like a natural material, maybe a cotton/wool blend.

That is such a distinct pattern that I uploaded a photo of the back to google search by image. The horse pattern looks like it might have originated with Gucci, but their argyle version features alternating shades of horses in the diamonds.

Unfortunately I found the horses alternating with "H" on the Ali Express website - they may have been "borrowing" from someone other and earlier than Gucci, but hard to say.

Oh interesting! You think this is a Gucci knockoff? If so when is the Gucci sweater from? I can also try the reverse image search I guess. The quality seems better than I would expect from Ali Express? But no idea really.

I didn't buy it, just got a bug about its age as I couldn't figure it out.

I definitely think it is a modern knockoff- Here is Gucci vs the knock off version, you can see the shape of the horses as well as other details are different.

Jolene, is the knock off you found from Ali Express? Or somewhere else? I keep wondering why an “H” was chosen for the design, and whether Ali Express’s might be a knock off of the knock off.

I like the colorway of the knockoff better than the original Gucci.
I saw it at ali express and a few foreign websites for sale. No idea why the H... I guess for horses :hysterical:

haha, that's what I assumed as well. It had a twin in a different colourway that had "F"s all over it, but no pictures of anything starting with F :hysterical:
I almost certainly would have brough it home with me to wear based solely on its obscurity! Well, maybe for $5.00 lol

They wanted $10 for it! Thrift stores are getting more and more expensive. Also I have so many sweaters because I knit :D
Yea, nope! Good call, I would much rather have a hand knit piece any day! I think that didn't cost much more than that new!!!

Yes exactly! I am sure it was very cheap. They're all full of Shein junk now too and I wonder if anyone buys it since it can't cost more than they're selling it for when it's new.
