Hi! I have found this dress recently and would like to ask you what decade it is from. It is made from sturdy linen fabrics, has two pockets and a pleat in the back.

Is the skirt lined with silk? It's a bit hard to tell. The construction is old fashioned - someone who learned to sew in the 19th century or early 20th century. The dress looks 1940s to me, and I suspect it's continental European - did you find it in France perhaps? Would love to see it on a dress form to better understand the length of the hem. The 'blue, blanc, et rouge' patriotic striping suggests to me c. 1945ish.

Unfortunately I don't know the country of origin of the dress. I think the stripes are orange, brown and grey. Here is the pic of me wearing this dress to better understand the length. Thank you for your reply!

Now that I see it on, I wonder if it might be a theatre costume? It's a bit odd no matter how you look at it. Definitely not a commercially made product.

The dress construction and design reminds me of the 1910s. I was thinking maybe it was shortened at some point of time.
