Hello, I’m Heidi and I’m a total newbie here curious to find some history on a silk sparkly skirt suit that I bought at a thrift shop back in the 80s. I loved this suit dearly and wore it as often as I could (I was in high school and this was my vibe back then, with a black turtleneck, black tights, and boots. It WAS the 80s after all ). I just found it again when going thru some old boxes. It made me wonder about its origins. The background of the fabric is a beige color and it’s covered in silver sparkles. It’s fully lined and the jacket has a tag that says Alna Tricots Deluxe, and then another tag that says Pure Silk 50% and Metallic 50%, and Made In Italy. There are no other tags or identifying marks that I can find. Does anyone have any knowledge of this company and its history? The thrift shop I bought it from was in Salem, Oregon and I bought this in probably 1985 or so. Any info would be greally appreciated. Thanks!!

Hi Heidi,

I am Italian and I know the company that made that garment very well because my mother used to work there. The company, Alna Tricots Deluxe, was founded in Milan in the 1950s and closed down for good at the end of the 1990s. They exported their products all over the world and made very beautiful garments with excellent finishes. You are really lucky to still have that suit. I feel a lot of nostalgia seeing that label.

Thank you for sharing your story!

Best regards.
