Hello vintage experts! I need help identifying this vintage dress — possibly from the 1970s.

Details:

  • Heavy, silky, bouncy fabric (possibly polyester or acetate)
  • Knife-pleated all over with an asymmetrical cut and draped ruffle
  • Abstract black/brown stripe pattern on ivory background
  • Elastic or gathered waistband
  • No interior labels, tags, or size markings
The silhouette and fabric remind me of Mary McFadden,

Issey Miyake, Missoni, or possibly Halston — but I can’t find an exact match anywhere online.

I’d love any help you can give in identifying the possible designer, maker, or even the country of origin. Thank you so much!

Can you tell if that is a drop waist? Its hard to tell on the hanger.

It is looking more like a blouson to me, and when I enlarge the photos, the waist treatment looks like shirring.
Knife-pleated all over....
the pleating looks tiny enough to be crystal pleating.Re: designer, so difficult to know. There were so many companies out there making good RTW back in the day. Without any labels, it's going to be hard to pin down.
