I think it's the balls that I doubt. I don't know that I've seen hollow celluloid spheres. I keep thinking they could be glass, but the finish is so like celluloid, as you say.
I previously had a hair comb with big spheres that were very lightweight glass—which I figured out by dropping the comb
At first I thought these spheres were glass as well, but I'm not sure. The comb part seems to be molded celluloid. It has been drilled to fasten on the structure that...

Wow, that's pretty spectacular!
Post war and before The New Look has fully taken hold. I'm guessing early 50s? To me the pads look like they are at the hip, and I tried looking for exposed hip pads, but got nowhere. The shoulders have flanges. I can't tell what the pads are made of—are they...

To me it looks like c. 1972-74 to me. The buttons are not really oversized, and the print is floral. Is the length original? Is the thread used for the hem cotton-like or is it clear nylon?

Hmmm. Vassar College's crest doesn't look like that, but it isn't to say it never used something like that. It was founded in 1861 according to the Vassar Encyclopedia. There's also a Vassar Creation coat manufacturer.
Does it look like the buttons were changed out, looking behind the Vassar...
That took me by surprise! Very large! I'm not sure how many towels are that large.
I'm sure you're right that it is tied to the football team. Here I see that the crest logo was changed in 1949, when the crowns were removed from the lions.
A couple of years ago I sold a beautiful beaded dress with the label Sister Max. She was a very interesting sort!

The brainchild of chemist Wallace Carothers at DuPont ninety years ago, nylon strutted onto the scene as the very first synthetic fiber, with earlier manmade fibers rayon and acetate being plant-based. Strong, stretchy, fast-drying, and resistant to bugs and rot—nylon was a sensation. First used...
I would guess the lining is likely un-ribbed acetate taffeta and agree about the nylon. I love the name Alice Edwards Goes Places—Alice could have gone to Carnival in Rio in this dress!
