What a wonderful looking exhibit Jonathan! I would love to come see it, and given I'm not that far away,
there should be no excuse - other than I won't drive the 401 and Paul travels so much. Hopefully I will
be able to get in and see it.
Definitely 60s - I'm going with mid - and that metallic matelasse fabric was very popular then. Ann's Vogue Shop must have been relatively popular because I have found
several over the years up here in Ontario. All have been 60s/70s era.
Many people (myself included) will also purchase older items in total disrepair for salvage purposes of the trim and fabric. Also
people purchase for pattern and study. Items from the 1800s to 1940s seem to be the most desirable
I'm with Ruth on her comments on your other questions :)
Good catch on the clasp replacement Laura. So you feel it is earlier rather than later? I remember seeing quite a few necklaces
similar style at art/craft fairs in the 90s. I think it is the butterfly that I am questioning mainly as to ascertaining the age.
Jewelry is not my strong point, however the clasp, butterfly and style looks to me like one of the Victorian styles that were
so popular in the 90s. Very pretty though!
I believe these are still being made, or at least were in the late 90s. My SIL purchased one for my MIL when she was
in Spain during the late 1990s. It was brand new, not vintage. The style has not changed a lot over the years although I
believe the composition of the ribbon has. Hopefully...
Great info Jonathan! And "obscure" is an excellent word to apply to some of these labels which are
little known. Cute suit and I think your best selling venue would be Etsy. As to price, that I'm not
sure of.
