You guys are so very welcome! I'm singing its praises. I read about it on the Manhattan Wardrobers's site. I was so amazed I found it at my local Longs Drugs. And for $2.99! It's fabulous stuff!

I haven't found this particular label, just Blass Sport Ultra Suede. I'm not terribly sure of the date. It has shoulder pads. Early 80's? Should I add it to the label resource?

I have had great results iwth the Dryell cleaning stuff. But I recently found a FABULOUS product for non washable items. It's called Goddard's. www.goddards.com
It's a spray on powder type substance that you let sit for 10 minutes and then brush off the powder. I happen to have found it...
Louise,
I had no idea about the hexagonal netting. I am so glad I read this thread. I have a Lorrie Deb debutantish dress. The netting was safety pinned in! Gasp. I wasn't until further inspection that I realized it was cut out of the dress and then safety pinned in. But it's green to...
I am on a BIG marketing kick right now. I have been scouring the internet for magazines and places to add my link to. Marketing is key! I am starting to feel a little blue because for a while, I was having multiple sales a week, and now, NOTHING. Summer is always a bad season, I hear. So...
I received the Style.com newsletter today, a great fashion resource if you don't already get it. Mod was all over the place. It had a great link with photos timekining the trend. With all the knowledge we gained from the Senti's workshop, we'll be ready for the next vintage fashion trend...
Oooooh, snake skin! I don't see eel, but yes, skins will be making a comeback this fall along with BOHO. I think that purse will do well for you!
Oh, and I agree on 70's.

Ok, so my notes say:

Question-My camera has +0.3 to + 2.0 and then it also has negative numbers in the same range. What are the negative numbers for?
If I am using indoor lighting sources i.e. lightbulbs, do I...
This is the one time I think fat is good! LOL. My mom had a fatty lump on her breast and had it removed. I know nothing we say wiil ease your worrying, but the chances that it is nothing are greater than that it is something. Sorry if I sound matter of fact, but I would just keep thinking...
That's what I found most interesting. One piece of fabric and she can make a breath taking gown. Amazing!
Her death was sad. She died and no one except her family knew until a year later!!!
As you can imagine, creating dresses with pleats 1 millimeter (correction) wide, can get very pricey. She would visit museums for inspiration for her scultptural creations. She continued to make her gowns into the 50's, 60's and 70's.
This dress was sold at a VERY popular online auctions...
Oh, I guess I missed the part where you said it's an adaptation. Could you explain what that means? I'm not sure I understand. Either way, it is a very lovely dress.
Sandra
Liz,
Before you make a decision on eBaying it, I have an example of a dress that was sold at said auction site and I think it could've gone for much, much more as it had Gres' signature pleating. Maybe a live auction?
Sandra
Because of my constraints, I can't move it farther back. but I can point the light downwards a little and a little farther to the right. I'll try that and see if that works.
BTW, what is a soft box?

After yesterday's section, I played with my sizing on my camera. I set it to PC instead of the lowest setting. My lighting is two 60 watt bulbs, 45 degrees from dress, but one with a clip on shop light dome. I think i definately need a reflector on the floor though. Please Critique!

WWII
By the time the war hit, Madame Gres had become a world famous designer. Even though she was Jewish, German soldiers asked if she would design dresses for the wives of German officers. She refused and they closed down her design house. It was a very quiet time for Gres during the war...
Liz-Madame Gres took a trip in 1937 to the far East and was very influenced by Asian and African culture. she began to embroider intricate patterns on her creations and even designed a variation of a cheongsam.
This was a 1937 design:

Hi eveyone!
Lizzie- I thought the bit about her name was great too! One source says that the husband ended up leaving her and she supported the bum, but I coudn' t find any other sourse to substantiate that, so I left it alone.
Chris and Sue- I do believe Gres influenced Vionnet, according...
Hi everyone! I'm Sandra Mendoza. I've corresponded with some of you many times. I am a complete and utter newbie so please excuse me as I figure this all out. I chose Alix Gres because I actually found a Gres skirt, the modern label, and while doing my own research, I found her quite...
I would take it off the tripod to get close enough to the detail on the garment. When I zoomed in, with the macro setting, it would get all blurry. but maybe my problem is not zooming, it's my macro setting. Hmmm, going to play with my camera!
I too invested in a tripod, and boy does it help! the only problem I have is when I have to take very close up pictures I have to remove the camera from the tripod and then we're back to square one, fuzzy pics. I've tried using the zoom, but with the macro feature, the pics come out blurry.
