Colonial Williamsburg Conference "Millinery Through Time"

I'm not sure if the Margaret Hunter will sponsor any more conferences since this was to celebrate their 60th Birthday, but Colonial Williamsburg is always holding conferences on various subjects and you can check out their events on their website. This weekend Jamestown will be having a...

Colonial Williamsburg Conference "Millinery Through Time"

Amanda, Joseff of Hollywood is a wicked and evil passion of mine, too! I have on the matching earrings, too! That man has gotten me into more trouble, even though he's been dead since 1948!!!!! I am getting ready to send a photo of a compact to his granddaughter to see if her grandmother...

Colonial Williamsburg Conference "Millinery Through Time"

Barbara, I was so flattered that Ignatius sought me out on Sunday evening to take a photo of my hat! He said that he had the block for making it, but was not able to get the fine quality of felt that was used during that period. He was so nice and I took to him immediately. He is trying to...

Colonial Williamsburg Conference "Millinery Through Time"

Well, I hadn't posted anything about the conference until now, so here goes! It was so much information that I am still trying to think about all of it. I made lots of notes. We were very restricted as to photographing. I did sneak a few photos of some of the ladies who work in the Margaret...

    Vintage Kimono-help dating!

I am certainly not knowledgeable about Japanese kimonos and have some of my own to figure out in the very near future, but I wonder if those small round circular designs are family crests. There looks like one center back which is where one is on my personal black Haori(short kimono). I see...

    James Dean overcoat - HELP!

Not to be rude, but I don't really chat via conversation, just reply on threads. My coat, as stated, is made from lightweight wool....possibly gabardine. I haven't done a thing with it(measured it) since I purchased it and, in fact, it's currently on my male mannequiin, Chad, waiting for me to...

I have one which I will be listing in the near future, hopefully, that is so similar. Mine is dated on the inside, August 19, 1942. It is a beautiful lightweight wool and even has a zip out lining which is lightweight wool. I am so glad you posted this great photo of James Dean....I had...

You say purse, I say handbag...

I'm in Virginia and I still say billfold and always thought of a "purse" as a small little thing to carry coins...like change or coin purse. Pocketbook is more what I grew up hearing. We would say evening bag for the little pretty beaded bags carried for more dressy affairs.

    Dating this pre 1920s top!

Barbara, that's what I was trying to see....the sleeves. It looked like they were not those balloon sleeves of the 1890s and so I thought may 1880s. I would love to see details, too!
