Early to mid 1960s....I had some similar style dresses during that time. This one sort of has a faux empire waist with the buttons and tabs creating that effect.
That would certainly account for the label, but I would have thought that a professional seamstress would have stitched the label in the skirt seam as they are most often found. But, of course, I suppose if the label had been found in the waist, that's where she would have returned it! It looks...
In the waistband? That does seem unusual. And, I agree with you Alice. The tag is tacked on and that looks strange, too! But, the dress is pretty...just might not be what it seems! My first thought on age was early 1960s.
Linn, you are exactly right! The thickness of this piece is very curious, indeed. Just looks "not right" for bakelite. And the color is a little off, too!
I know absolutely nothing about this sort of thing and wish I could help you....but the estate sounds like it must have been a great deal of fun! Hope you got some wonderful treasures!

MJ, you could be right. It's hard to say without actually holding the article in hand. If only these little treasures could talk and tell us of their pasts.....
I'm wondering if the pink material and tassel could be a later replacement for a damaged beaded bag which was original to this Czechoslovakian frame, which was so noted for their lovely glass beads! Somehow, the pink material just doesn't look right to me.
Well, one thing for sure....when you see "Made in The Republic of Ireland" on a label, you know that Ireland became a republic in 1949. Anything with that on a tag has to be that year or after. It does look '70s for this coat and it is lovely! Thanks for sharing!
Late 1950s because of the length! I've had one similar that was from the late 50s and shorter, but it had been shortened so it could be more fashionable for the 60s!

That label is one I've never seen....are there any other tags or labels in the garment and if so, could you add photos of those? As you said, there is nothing in our VFG label resource that looks anything like your label.

Love and admiration for things that were beautifully made. Workmanship that is amazing. Elegance that does pleasantly make me think of times long ago......how chic the wearers were as opposed to some of the sloppy get-ups that pass today! And, saving from the trash, the little treasures of the...
Looks a little '80's....made in USA, too! I have seen that label that you are thinking about..iCe and it does have those dots on the tag, I do believe!
