    Opera Cape Help

I think the fasteners look oddly out of place....but, if it were custom made, I guess the person having it made could have put any type of fasteners that they wanted. They don't look like they match the material very well to me. And, they do seem later upon taking a second look, Lorraine!

    Are these Takahashi Birds?

There are lots of birds that aren't Takahashi and they are quite well done. The real birds are supposed to have small push pin attachments....not screws and will have a very shiny lacquer finish, but apparently some that are not the real deal have these same attributes. I have one authentic...

Discovery of £100,000 of designer clothes collected over 70 years and NEVER worn

At any rate, it's always interesting to take a trip back in time and be privy to someone's obsession! I would have gladly volunteered to do so! You do have to wonder what the condition of the items would be....as they have been stored under who knows what conditions! And, I would have to...

    Hermés Print Jacket Label Help?

Maybe Hermes licensed Gloria Vanderbilt to use some of their prints for a line of her clothing...... the materials are listed as polyester, so it's not silk as an authentic Hermes would be. And, it may be a little bit older since it was made in Taiwan and not China.

Is the material polyester? I, too, definitely think you are safe to say 1970's. I've never seen that label before.

    Jewelry help?

I think anyone who has collected and studied jewelry for a long time, will certainly tell you that they would rather see the back of a pin than the front....and, the back of your top hat pin is what makes me think it is not really as old as you think. The back just looks newer, as Linn said...

    Jewelry help?

Linn, I couldn't agree with you more and value your opinion highly when it comes to jewelry! By, the way, did you get to Rhode Island last month for the convention? I had really hoped to go, but just couldn't make it work out. I haven't been since everything changed to CJCI, but have heard...

Favorite place/ way to sell vintage?

I started out with my own website and I think that really takes a lot of time to develop in order to get the exposure that you need to attract customers. I've never sold on Ebay and am a very infrequent shopper on Ebay......I much prefer to actually see feel and smell the items I am buying to...
