Very interesting to see a Miss Mary hat...I haven't had the good fortune to find one yet, but have had Miss Alice hats which are, also, lovely. I do love hats, too! VFG is wonderful .....it affords members such a grand opportunity to exchange knowledge!
Ruth, I have several hats that are labeled similarly....one is a Pierre Balmain. It is my understanding that high end department store milliners were allowed to legally obtain the right to copy these original designs. I would think it would be the same with clothing items. I don't believe it is...
On the size 14 dress that I posted, it did measure smaller than today's size 14....actually more like a size 10 by today's standards. The print and colors were really great!

I am getting ready to list a hat in my shop on Ruby Lane that has this same label. I purchased it in NYC last November(2011). It, too, seems to be from the 1950's and is of very good quality....curled ostrich feathers and very nice materials
