I see 1950s. One thing is is that it is a clutch, and I might expect a small beaded bag like this from the 1930s to have a chain handle. 1920s beads would be smaller and finer. Also the look of the frame seems not so much 20's 30s to me. And these beaded bags and embroidered bags (your...
Actually I have no idea of the quality of hats sold at Target as I have not set foot in a Target store since the 1990s. I just picked a name of a big box store, as most of them sell the same merchandise. What features make it newer? Partly it is just an experience thing, after decades of...
That a sweet dress. I think it may be the original length. I say this because it appears to be what we used to call a "short waisted" dress. Usually made for heavy set or chunky woman or short women (or both).
Its cute, but definitely not what I would call vintage. It "might" be from the 1980s, but it could be from last year and bought at Target. Made in China. The lace has been added to make it little more dressy.
Like Jonathan, I find the 2 small childrens (?) hats the most interesting. I am super super curious as to what the off white hat is made of (the second one in the photos there). Could you possibly take a close up photo of the "straw" or crinoline whatever it is that makes up the hat? I have...
You have a wonderful bunch of hats, and yes, some are very old. When you can show them on a manny head, and show the interiors, we can definitely help you date them correctly.
What a nice find!
Hard to be sure from just the photos, but it looks a lot like some of the early 20th century handbags, wallets and small luggage pieces I have handled over the years. The grain looks a bit like faux elephant hide (embossed real leather) which was popular then. I am thinking 1910-1920. Curious...
I agree that photos will be very helpful. I think you will have luck asking here of our VFG members as many of us have good knowledge of fabrics, both vintage, antique, and newer.
Yes, sure is cute! Its a stylized boater or sailor hat, with a ruffled brim. From the photos, its hard to tell if its made of a natural straw or some novelty straw braid material. This is a popular style with collectors.
Hi, thanks for the added photos. I stick with newer trim. The black semi sheer part resembles organza, although I doubt this is silk. I also agree with Marzilli that the looseness of the embroidery does not say antique at all to me. It may be imported, it may be polyester. If you can...
Sadie gives some good advice. I am not sure this is an antique trim, however. I just get a different vibe from it. Based purely on the photos, of course. Can you show a close up of the weave, and can you determine the fibers?
You are most welcome. Please be aware that Dior and other Couture fashion houses' relationships with USA and Canadian department stores is very complex , varied, and detailed. I was explaining only in reference to your hat.
No, sorry, but Dior definitely did not make this hat. And the hat was not made in France. And the hang tag does not go with that hat. Sorry, its cute but there is no connection to Dior.
The hat may indeed be inspired by, or be a copy or an adaptation of a Paris milliner's hat. We have no...
I agree with Cin on the dating. While they are lovely, and we cannot give value, I can say that they do not have great value as the styles are fairly common and they do not have a desired designer label. Not the kind of hat collectors are looking for now. Look around on Ebay and Etsy for...
