I've had a few Davidows, too, including a teal suit I just listed. While doing so I looked into the patent number tag and found it had been issued in 1943 for a novel method of using less fabric (wartime) while maintaining the proper drape and line. Nifty, no?
The glass bottle is for the shot of whiskey you need when you stab yourself with your sewing needle. Or maybe that's just me? Seriously, though, if it's not an etui (and there already seems to be one there), I don't know what it's for. Perfume?

Absolutely, Marian. It's a combination of the undergarments, the cut of the clothes (there's less room in general and usually no stretch, and the seams are in different places than we're accustomed to), and also my own dance (and comportment, thanks, mom) training.
