All of these purchases I made from VFG Trade Members saw good use in 2016:
I bought this black silk 20s dress from Maggie (DeniseBrainVtg) a while back and have worn it before. This time it went with me to "The Fashionable Past" 20s-60s clothing exhibit at Atlanta History Center's Swan House...
Trademarkia for Laurence Kazar says First Use Anywhere: 1991 (I was surprised it wasn't 1980s), last filing 1992, and discontinued, un-revivable as of 2003.
That's gorgeous. Don't know the age or purpose or even the proper name (I call it "net lace"), but I do know there are lace-identification/history web sites. Maybe you can start there? I think this particular type of lace is not actually lace at all, but embroidered net. It's so beautiful.
Latest blog post outlines how I cobbled together a passable costume for a Jane Austen event:

We love comments on the blog, so feel free to critique, LOL. I can take it.
Oops, I couldn't resist and had to buy this one from one of my favorite VFG shops, Past Perfect Vintage! Thanks, Hollis! I love it.
Here are a few more of her items I'd be mighty thrilled to own ...
10s Blue Dress (swoon!)
Gigi Young -- My favorite 50s label!
50s Red and Black print...
I agree with Nicole. Sometimes these two-piece sets don't have linings on the dresses. Lord & Taylor always had the nicest dress department of the better department stores, even into the 90s there was a wide selection -- not just "trendy" stuff. I was sad when ours closed.
Looks to be polyester knit (if you can stretch it in one direction, usually horizontally, it's "single knit" and if you can stretch it in both directions, it's "double knit"). My paternal grandmother lived in these clothes, long after they'd gone out of style. She got stuck in the early 70s. My...
Hobo is a 70s font (despite being from 1915).
Wait! I remembered incorrectly. It's from 1910. There was a second version made in 1915. Still, it's weird it's that old. It looks SO iconically 70s.
I love fonts and typefaces. Fascinating.
Love both images! I have the best memories of spending hours at "Jack's Fabrics" in Port Chester, NY, when I was little (late 60s/early 70s). There was a button room that was just heavenly. I hung out there admiring the buttons while she shopped.
This is an interesting concept. I just don't know how vintage would survive being rented. When I see what happens to the costumes on movie sets, my goodness. Nothing comes back from a shoot unscathed.
So perhaps renting out the newer stuff, but not the old? I'd have so many rules and...
