oh my, i'm confused, I have dresses like that (very nice by the way!) that I call lurex brocade. I also have a dressing gown which I call lurex brocade for example, pic shown below.
I'm glad this topic has come up cos it's soooooooooooooo confusing!
I had the same query in a previous post, but the question got lost in the other questions I had about bags. What would you say this bag is ... lame cloth or lurex cloth? When I researched it seemed that both lurex and lame were basically the same thing but lurex was a tradename for the fibres...
It was quite hard saying goodbye to that dress as it was my very first vintage dress I bought !!!
But to see the end result and seeing the dress brought alive again, made it all worthwhile :sunshine:

Thanks Nicole! That's good info re the metal zipper as I knew you'd might find metal zippers in homemade dresses later than 60s, but didn't realise that applied to boutiques as well, so that's helped me a great deal! So Dolly pink dress 70s & pink blouse 60s & cream lacey one 70s (they blouses...
Yes, she does look fabulous and she obviously feels good wearing it as she oozes confidence. Linda, yes it makes me feel great!!!
It does fit her like a glove, as if it was made for her. I too love her choice of red shoes, red lips and red nails. I also like her hair too.
Yep, you...
Thanks for the info Nicole and PatentLeather.
I dated the pink dress as late 60s as it has a metal zipper?
The blouse is A Sybille Claymar original & buttons up at the back.
Nicole: I think it's all polyester.
Lace blouse label:
The Dolly Day still has it's tags, here it...

I've being selling vintage online only since Summer and I was thrilled when a customer sent me pics of her in a 1950s full circle dress I sold. She's so happy with it and said her partner says she looks like a 'lady' and I think she oozes confidence in the photos she kindly sent me...
Hello everyone!
I hope you can straighten some confusion I've always had with care labels. Now I know (from VFG resource) that care labels were introduced in the 1971 USA and the modern labels 1983.
I have 1 dress (back metal zipper) and 1 blouse (buttons up the back) that I would...
Gonna have to put my name down! Got Melody's so got to have your's too! ;)
Anne, thanks for that really helpful info and for taking the time to reply :spin:
Thanks Sandra, you are up late!! It's morning here....
The 1st one I didn't know the date so thanks for that one, 2nd bag I knew was 60s but wasn't sure if the last one was just a reproduction as looks brand new. I guess it's just never been used.
The 80s one, is there a helpful hint on...

Hope everyone's having a good weekend!
I have 3 bags that I need help with in one way or another if I may?
First bag is probably from what I can tell is leather mock ostrich but hey could be man made? It's very thick, squeaky and quite hard?? There's a nylon zip so dates late 60s...
I've got a 'crunchy' dress (quite apt description) but gold on black and only the dress and nowhere near as totally gorgeous as your ensemble, what a dream!
Keep us posted on what fabric it turns out to be, it'll help dentifying my one.
The dress isn't a plus size by any chance? I think...
Val, Don't they have ANY vintage fairs at all around your way? I can't wait to do my first vintage fair, I'm so excited!!!
Sarasattic - yep, I agree you really do need to see, touch the fur in person to tell what it is, a photo is near useless and must be quite frustrating for members trying...
Thanks Louise! I'm actually going to keep this stole as it's great for chilly evenings when I'm hunched over the pc lol...it's soooooo soft and warm.
Sarah
Found a listing for Musquash that looks EXACTLY like my stole.
Is Musquash another name for Muskrat as I saw another image for Muskrat but with Musquash in brackets....???

 Thanks Anne and Nicole, I was secretly hoping it was 60s re the design and typical 60s fabric and how it's constructed.
I was sitting in the garden yest looking the dress over & repeating to my poor other half 'I'm sure it's 60s, look at the way it's .... and that.. and...
Girl\'s Dress Date Help Please!
:hiya:
Sometimes I wonder what I'm thinking when I bring stuff back from my little rummages.
But must be the little girl in me, dressing up dolls etc, that made me pick this little little girl's dress up with it's matching jacket.
Now I know from an...
Jack Herzog I believe was a 1940s couture designer carrying into the 50s. Have a google, there's some lovely dresses of his for sale from that era with lovely prices to go with them, so great find!
I'd love to see a pic of your dress, his designs are fabulous!
Sarah
No worries Connie, I'd love to see pics of your photo print clothing and as I like your avatar, I'll let you off lol. Enjoy your day, sounds fun :sunshine:

This is the maxi dress & another of the print, so if anyone can tell me more about the terminology and print that would be great, the print is on polyester chiffon (sorry if pics big):
Hi Louise!
Went to my out of town upmarket charity shop so cost me over 3 times my local one (they put aside the vintage and they price it up) but I was intrigued by the print and being on chiffon so thought it was worth it.
It's just a normal maxi dress, no great shakes there, so that's...
:hiya:
Picked up a early 70s maxi dress today and the top layer is made from polyester chiffon. The print almost looks like a photographic transfer/imprint of flowers and fauna, but what's the correct terminology and process?
I'm sure you will all know, so please let me know!
Thankyou!
