I agree with Mary Jane on the date of this handbag. I have a similar tooled leather bag and it actually still had a 1955 bus ticket in it when I purchased it. The ticket was from Denver, Colorado.
The head on the hallmarks looks like Queen Victoria.......she became queen in 1837 and remained Queen until her death in 1901.
